George Taylor born 1850 in Thixendale
« on: Friday 25 April 14 05:00 BST (UK) »
George Taylor was born in Thixendale in 1850 to a William and Mary Kilvington.   He later married Ada Kidd and had 2 children, William, 1879 and Ada, 1881 in the Driffield area.  Trying to track these two children's families, any help appreciated,   katlady   :) :) :) :)

Hi katlady,

Can you tell us a bit more about this family?
Is it census records you need or do you already have them?
The more information we have the better we can help. :)

There is a birth reg for Ada Taylor March Qtr 1881 9d 316
and also a death reg in the June Qtr 1881 9d 189 both at Driffield and as I haven't spotted anything else that fits I think this could possibly your Ada but to be really certain you would need the death certificate.

William Taylor joined the Army in 1901 and you can view the records on Ancestry WW1 Pension Records.

Hope this is the kind of thing your looking for and that it helps :)

In 1891
Ada Taylor 40 a Charwoman, her son Fred Pidd? 16 and son William H 13 all born Driffield
are living at
2 Ann's Place, Kingston upon Hull, Sculcoates Yorkshire.
Although Ada is down as married there is no sign of her husband George Taylor.

I think this is William Henry in 1901
He's aged 21 a boarder working as an Oil Miller and living with this family at
9 Kingston Terr Court, Hull
William Capon and his wife Elizabeth both 63 born Hull
Thomas Head Grandson 19
Bell Coyle Grandaughter 13
Thomas Robinson 35.

A couple of months after this census was taken William enlisted in the Army

I'm not too certain of this one because although I can find a marriage for a Fred Pidd 1895 on FreeBMD it isn't to a Mary.
1901 census. 91 Cumberland St, Sculcoates Hull
Frederick William Pedd.. looking at the image it does look to me like Pidd.. 26 born Driffield a Bricklayers Labourer.
Mary wife 25 born Hull
Frederick William 4 born Hull
Also 3 boarders living with them .

RG13; Piece: 4490; Folio: 78; Page: 10.

The family are on the 1911 census which we can't print but I think it could somehow tie in with the family that William was boarding with in 1901

Hello rolnora,

Wow, you certainly have been busy, huge thanks for all the work you have done for me.
I also am not sure about the 1901 census information.   I had found Frederick William Pidd marriage to a Hannah Capon in 1895 in Hull.  This would explain why William Henry Taylor was living with Capon family in 1901. Possibly Hannah died soon after marriage and then he remarried this Mary showing on 1901 census. Wonder if 1911 census would yield more information, will keep looking, regards katlady

Hello again rolnora,

Have just discovered that Ada Pidd was actually born Ada Cooke, she married a George Pidd in 1870, and then remarried to George Taylor after first husband died in 1877.
