Hi Smartypants and Bankhall

I don't know if you are aware But our Francois Bideau was supposed to be a sailor and died 1918.

Bideau  François, Fireman, Mercantile Marine. SS Shad, Thames, 13/05/1918, aged 45, Alderney War Memorial,(Under investigation. Photograph needed)  French born in 1873. Alderney resident. Husband of Marie Bideau. Cut and pasted from The Channel Islands and the Great War website at http://www.greatwarci.net the other Francois however could still be a relation one of the great uncles.

Please check post on MyHeritage

Regards Mike

The original notification is listed on BT334 Register and Indexes of Births, Marriages and Deaths of Passengers and Seamen at Sea.  YOu may have to subscribe to look at it but it will give you more information about the ship and the circumstances.

Hi Bankhall

Sorry I havn't replied sooner but been in Hospital. If you were asking where i came across the info i posted it was The Channel Islands and the Great War website at http://www.greatwarci.net. I have visited Trevou-Treguinec while on holiday and there is a church nearby called St Micheals that has a  war memorial with  two Francois Le Bideau's on it. Itook photo's and will look for them when i feel a bit better.
p.s. do you call yourself bankhall because you lived nearby?

Mike

Hi Peter

I have talked to my mother and I now know who you are. Its strange being 2nd cousins and meeting on line when we only live half a mile apart. I live in Harle Syke.

Mike
