Hi again, if you feel the 1901 is yours, then have you searched 1911 for them, Harriett aged 39 b Surrey looks to be in an Institution in Wandsworth?

Yes in 1911 they are in institutions. Christopher Snr is in Wandsworth Prison and Harriet is in the workhouse, as is their son Joseph Herbert George Berry.

I am confident that this is the right family. As far as I know there were 5 children: Christopher John Jnr, William Percy, Joseph Herbert George, Margaret Ellen Florence and Frank Harold. I have birth certificates for the last three. I have a tentative reference for Christopher John Jnr as mentioned above and can't find anything for William Percy.

I will obviously have to order the 1893 certificate for Christopher to see if it checks out.

I should also mention, that Harriet had another child before their marriage, probably by a different father, possibly named Godfrey. Ada Godfrey Barnes who was born in 1888 and brought up by Harriet's parents back in Godalming/Stoke.

OK so where were the eldest boys in 1911?
If you have original 1911 for Harriett how many children does she show born/died?

Not sure where they were, though someone suggested that the a prefix on the electoral register entry indicates that William Percy is absent on military service.

The 1911 census for Harriet states that she had 8 children: 5 living and 3 dead.

That's interesting, as his father is from Gloucestershire. His father's family moved to Surrey from Gloucestershire, sometime between 1871 and 1882.

Unfortunately I can't find the reference you have discovered. Can you point me in the right direction?

Hi have you checked out the William Percival/Percy Barnes Sept qtr 1898 Wandsworth 1d 751 (clutching at straws)!
Maybe not the birth as marriage in 1926 Wandsworth!
And was he the William P Berry who married an Elizabeth Holmes Sept qtr 1922 Wandsworth 1d 898?
