Joseph McNaught b 1806

   Joseph McNaught, my gtgtgfather was born in December 1806, probably in Derry. He moved to Edinburgh in the 1820s possibly as a result of violence and unrest and he changed his surname to McNaughton. He died in Colinton, Midlothian in 1853, having worked for many years as a gardener. Does anyone know of a Joseph McNaught born in 1806?

Hi.
My husband has family connections to the McNaughts of Derry but we have only been able to take the line back to a John McNaught born in Donegal c1842. He married Mary O'Donnell in Derry where he raised his family and the majority of which still live.

Hi Andrew, I could not locate the birth of Joseph but I did find 2 marriages which one may be his;

Joseph McNaght
married 1809 co Donegal

Both of these are on rootsireland.ie which is a pay per view site.
