There was a Quarrier's Village just outside Bridge of Weir -

Looks likely this is where William Jones and siblings were at time of 1891 Census perhaps?

Me too - lost I mean.
And wondering how a Jones in Wales has a Loch Wynnoch place of birth on enlistment.

Looking at that Quarriers Home site - many of the children mainly boys were sent to Canada - there is a link to the Golden Bridge website where there are some cracking photos of boys & girls who were at the homes and sent away. Made me wonder if they would also send children to farms elsewhere ....like Wales??

Just for background to that 1891 entry mentioned;

William John Jones, 11 b. Wales
Address: Two Miles from Bridge of Weir, and two and a half from Kilmalcolm, Renfrewshire
ED: Orphan Homes of Scotland Bridge of Weir

I thought these might be siblings for this William, from the same entry:

Garnet Wynne Jones 8 b. Wales orphan
Herbert Glynne Jones 7 b. Wales orphan

Re William Jones, from 1911 and his enlistment papers, he shows as a coal miner. Maybe also too on his marriage in 1907?

Interestingly the two other Jones boys at Bridge of Weir appear to be back in Wales by 1901 Census -
Herbert Glynne Jones born 1884 Criccieth Caernarvonshire  at Bangor

Garnet Wynne Jones born 1883 as above
