Primo-one can help me.ary School Records
« on: Thursday 27 November 14 22:17 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone please please help me in finding out where I can obtain school records for Law Primary School, Lanarkshire from 1920 - 1925??
I've been pushed form pillar to post by everyone I've tried to contact and no-one can help.
I've tried the Family History Society / Libraries / Law School itself but have come up against a brick wall.

 :(

Hi Tazzy

You sound frustrated by it all  :-\

You certainly have checked in all the right area and sources. What are they actually saying to you in response? Is it that the records are unavailable or lost? When you say you have tried Libraries, is this the Mitchell Library in Glasgow? See www.glasgowlife.org.uk/libraries/the-mitchell-library/archives/collections/school-archives/Pages/default.aspx

Added: see here, same suggestion www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=701769.0

The other possibility is South Lanarkshire Archives - see http://www.southlanarkshire.gov.uk/info/200165/local_and_family_history/588/records_and_archives  Of course, it may be that the records have not survived.

It may be that the holder is strictly implementing the 100yr rule for data protection.

Thank you to everyone who has relied to my query.  I have contacted the school and they didn't know - which surprises me.  I will coontact the Mitchell Library,

Tazzy, current staff of schools not all that aware of archives of the school's history etc. The Mitchell Library and their resources should be a good first source. Let us know how you get on  :)

Law School 1888-1921 SLA SE1/1/12

These are the only records available from South Lanarkshire Council

Hi I work in a primary school and I know that years ago the headteacher kept a journal.  You could ask the current head to let you see them.  Don't know that you will find anything specific in them tho tended to be descriptions of the day to day of the school.  Not sure when registration started but I know we only keep records for 7 years then they are destroyed simply due to lack of room. Good Luck :)

This post is a natural hand made product. The slight variations in spelling and grammar enhance its individual character and beauty and in no way are to be considered flaws. Unfortunately my preferred method of writing (Parker Quink on Basildon Bond) cannot be used.
