Mary Taplin
« on: Friday 11 July 14 15:04 BST (UK) »
Hi

I am trying to find out all that I can about Charles Taplin and his family, who are distant relatives of mine. As far as I know Charles was born about 1800 in Old Basing, Hampshire and was an agricultural labourer. I believe he married Mary Mancey in 1825, the daughter of John and Sarah Mancey, also of Old Basing. It isn't clear but I believe they had at least 6 children: John, Sarah, William, Charles, Mary and Tom. I further believe that both Mary Taplin (nee Mancey) and her daughter also named Mary both died before the 1841 census.

Assuming I have the right families, I can locate Charles, John, Sarah, William and Tom in the 1841 census, but none of the others. Searches reveal the deaths of THREE Mary Taplins in Old Basing, just prior to the 1841 census. Namely: Q3 1838 Basingstoke 7 34; Q2 1840 Basingstoke 7 36; and Q2 1840 Basingstoke 7 39. I am not sure which are which. Is there any way of finding out short of ordering the certificates?

I would welcome any help from those with local knowledge of the DOB, baptism dates, marriage dates, etc. of any or all of the above.

Thankyou very much. I was taking a little time out from the other quest, to look at another side of the family!

You're welcome. Hope these family members are a bit more straightforward than the others we have been looking at :D
