OH's aunt was baptised Marion, too. The vicar refused to christen her Molly. Though she was always called Molly.
We also have a Mally in the family. Doesn't seem to have been short for anything.

I have seen Molly as a name in it's own right in PR's as far back as the 1700's, there are loads in the Birth Index. :)

My Nephew & his wife named their 3rd Daughter Molly 5 years ago. Not short for anything, I love it.

My grandmother was Mary Ellen and always known as Molly. My 2yo daughter is Molly, not short for anything.
