Hi,

The Cyclopedia of Fiji has Edward Asher Benjamin (born Melb 1864) going to Fiji with his brother Leopold E Benjamin in early 1884  and started trading as Benjamin Bros.

Hi Jan,
  Did you see I added a better obit (which makes him seem more probable) as he it says that he is survived by Mrs Jacobs, 4 daughters and 2 sons.  One of the daughters is Mrs E. A.Benjamin of Sydney and another is Mrs E. R. Isaacs of Melbourne.  Mr John jacobs, secretary to the otago Hospital and Charitable Aid Fund is the elder son.  The other son is in Fiji.

Yes thank you! Did women in those days use their husbands initials (so Mrs E A Benjamin would be Mrs Edward Asher Benjamin?
