Good afternoon

I am trying to piece together my Child family. I am hoping to find evidence of George Child being part of my family. I have conflicting information so far about his place of birth. The 1881 census says he was born Horton but 1861 and 1871 say Horbury, Wakefield.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Kind regards
Amanda

Thank you, Heywood. I think this may have answered my query. George appears to be at home with his father and siblings.

Thank you again.

Kind regards

I think it's still a bit questionable Amanda.

Did your George Child marry Ellen Kitchen?

Marriage: January 1861 George Child 28 yrs, Dyer - father John Child Coal Dealer

The family I gave are at the same address in 1861 where John is a Wool Comber (as 1851). The other sons ages are out also but I would say it is definitely the same family.

John is a widower in 1851 and married to Sarah in 1861. There is a possible marriage of John Child, Wool Comber to Sarah Shackleton - but that is Shipley and both are from Heaton.

Do you think George is part of your family now ?

Thanks, Heywood. George was a fairly ropy connection to begin with. In 1881 the records say he was born in Horton. I made the connection to my child family from this but I had no evidence. In earlier census he was born Horbury. His parents would have been William and Mary so from the information you provided I am 100% sure he is not connected.

Thank you so much for your help.

Kind regards

That's good- I just didn't want you to get the wrong info. All seems a bit strange there.
