Once again am seeking help on my Redmans who emigrated 1820 from UK to Indiana. Have had all my ancestors confirmed with help from Rootschat and Indiana Library and Genealogy Society.
Hope I have posted on right board.
I have discovered a wife murderer who was killed by a lynch mob in 1882. He was grandson to my Gtx3 grandfather. He is a colourful character. 4 times married. 1st to prostitute, divorced, 2nd supposedly murdered her in Illinois but not proved. 3rd divorced, abused her and 4th shot her in head after badly abusing her for months, she was also pregnant. Have many newspaper clippings and coroner's report.
Through web I have discovered a book with details of the murder plus more. Whilst in army he killed a man then killed another. He served 10 years in jail. . I am trying to obtain copy of book and contact author.
He had one son by second wife also looking for him.
My man is Joel Hume Redman born in 1839 Posey to David Redman b.1810 in UK and Marie Givens.
He was a Cooper by trade and served in 25th Reg Indiana Infantry (Union side) between 1861-1865.
He is buried Locust Hill Cemetry, Evansville, Indian paupers grave. His headstone was provided by Deceased Union Civil War Veterns- I had a pic but have lost it! His son was David born to second wife Rachel J Lamb.
Basically I want to find Army Records, any info on son and copy of book. Which is by Ray Kessler a lifelong resident of Mount Vernon, called Ray' s Ramblings Volume 5 written in 2012.
In an Illinois paper it was said "He goes to the grave, unwept, unhonoured and unsung." I think I would have put it stronger than that!!!
