Emmerson House,Butterknowle

I am looking into my partner's family tree and we have this old photo from a member of the family and written on the back is 'Emmerson House, Butterknowle'.  Does anyone recognise this please and does it still exist?  My partner's grandmother lived there back in the mid 1940's.  Many thanks.

Hi Sandra.
Yes it seems to be the same place - but much better looking!  My partner's grandmother lived there until 1946 and her name was Martha Sadler Reynolds.  Do you know much about it?

Perhaps it might be more to your advantage to ask a moderator to move this thread to Durham - bound to be plenty of experts with local knowledge of that area who would be able to help you


Noticed a reference on the Durham Mining Site 1930 - List of Mines under the Coal Mines Act - Durham
