A belated welcome to Rootschat!
Sorry for the delay - I missed your post altogether.
You don't give any dates, which makes it a bit difficult to know where to start.
There's a marriage in Coventry in the March quarter 1887 where two of the parties on the page are Albert Richard Gibbons and Emma Townsend - you can find this on
www.freebmd.org.uk. Does this sound like them?

The big question is: was Florence illegitimate or was Emma a widow when she married Albert, and she lied in the 1881 census when she said she was married? I think she was a widow. There's a marriage in Nuneaton in March 1879 between Thomas Townsend and Emma Summers, and there's a 4 year old Emma Summers born Fillongley dau of William and Lucy in the 1861 census living in Fillongley. You need to get the 1887 marriage certificate to prove it though.
Let us know if you need to get further back
