Any ideas where are these places?
« on: Monday 25 August 14 22:37 BST (UK) »
Hi,
wonder if any Montgomery folk might be able to tell where these place names are supposed to be?

The second name possibly Llanyblodwel which is actually over the border in shropshire

I thought the second was Llanyblodwel before I even read your comment on it being so.
The only one for the first that comes to mind is Deuddwr (Dyther) just West of four Crosses.

Agree with Llanyblodwel

First could be Geuffordd  - spelling as it might have been pronounced with a soft ending.

(between Llanfyllin and Welshpool)

The couple seem to be John Lloyd and Sinah (shown incorrectly in BMD index as Savah) Roberts who were married in Montgomery district in Apr-Jun 1857.

In 1881, they gave their birth places as Guilsfield and Llanblodwell, Montgomeryshire.

The Welsh for Guilsfield is Cegidfa or Gegidfa and there are references to Lloyds of Gegidfa, so that may be a possibility.

I don't know if it's this John Lloyd but the current landlord told me that Lloyds ran the Horseshoe pub in Llanyblodwel for about 100 years. There were 'Johns' amongst them. A great grandfather got flowers at his funeral in 1935 'To a great friend from John and all at the Horseshoe'.
