Andrew Thomas Scott & his wife, Margaret

Hi,

Can anybody help trace the ancestry of this couple, without me having to resort to buying one of their children's birth certificate!

They can be found together in Sunderland on the 1901 census:
Andrew T Scott, born abt 1855 (Scotland) and his wife, Margaret, born abt 1867 in Sunderland.
They may have married circa 1889 as a daughter, Jane Morrison Scott was born on the 2nd December 1889 - father given as Thomas Scott (she was dead prior to 1901).

In 1901 they have five children all born in Sunderland:
Andrew Thomas born on the 7th April 1891 - father listed as Andrew Thomas
Humphrey born 25th November 1892 - father listed as Thomas
James William born in 1896
Elizabeth born on the 23rd October 1897 - father given as Thomas
Margaret born on the 3rd June 1900 - father given as Andrew Thomas

Andrew Thomas Scott died prior to 1911 as Margaret can be found with her children living in 20 John Street, she now gives her date of birth as 1871.
A surviving daughter, Martha Matilda had been born on the 30th August 1902
and the couple had lost two other children: Matthew and Walter (I can't trace those births of baptisms).

Can anybody find the couple's marriage? I suspect it took place in Sunderland.
Can anybody find either Andrew Thomas or Margaret prior to their marriage?

Just to complicate things Durham Records Online has one entry for an Andrew Thomas Scott recorded in the Cemetery Registers for  Sunderland in 1895 who was born about 1826, residence, 57 Brougham Street.

That does add an extra dimension to the scheme of things! I have had a quick look on the 1891 census to see if I can find him, but no luck!

I think I will need to buy one of their children's birth certificates to confirm Margaret's maiden name and then their marriage certificate to confirm father's names!
