1720 Sasine continued
« on: Friday 22 August 14 04:53 BST (UK) »
Clip 4 ‘ and Mr James Grahame of air the advocat commissioner appointed by James duke of Hamilton ?    ? (herant?) and Brandon Marquis of Clydsdale Erle of Aran etc…………..’
Duke of Brandon was one of his titles. I can’t see any his other titles that might fit these two words.

Clip 5 ‘ ‘that the said Issobell Marshall is  ? and  ? (Lawful?) Air and one of the two air portioners’

Clip 6 ‘ Barron dutton immediate laird superior of the lands and  ?  underwritten’
 ;)

1. Chastell-herault = Chatelherault - a French dukedom which the Hamiltons had since the 16th century

2. neirest and lawll ..... airs portioners = nearest and lawful ...... heirs portioners

3. uyrs = uthers = others - the "y" is really "th", as still today, when people write "ye" olde shoppe - that ye is pronounces "the", not "ye"
