Farningham family of Woods
« on: Friday 17 October 14 11:38 BST (UK) »

I have looked through the IGI/Archer for the parish of Farningham, for a family of Wood/s,
the parents were Thomas & Sophia, they seem to have had children from about 1825 to 1854, and
it appears they did bulk baptisms, not uncommon, it just seems a long stretch of begatting for Sophia, could any one look and see if there is in fact two families of Woods in the parish, or if the parish has been transcribed that I have missed, quite possibly though..

Alas no, if only so simple, I also have that in Yorkshire in a big way, thanks for the thought though.

Have you traced the family on census?Or a birth certificate for one of the younger children?

Yes I have the family on the census 41/51 etc, they all match to the parents with what I have from the IGI/Archer, its the oddity of the bp of Eliza & Jane being bp  and not in the
parish were they are living with there partners, they went all the way back to there birth parish to be baptised, the oldest one I have is aged 10 in Limehouse, many though just a few years, I have an IGI place near me I will see if they have  the Farningham pr photograph copy or can get  one, thanks for your thoughts...mick

What is the relationship of children to Thomas and Sophia in 1851 and later census?

Had a look at both Hugh Wallis batch and Archer, from 1825 to 1855 see 5 children born to Thomas and Sophia but Jane and Eliza baptised 1854 unlikely to be connected,25 years after next sibling.Father of Eliza and Jane may not even be related to your Thomas.
Suggest you order birth certificate but specify Sophia's maiden name.
Five Woods families involved.

Sophia was a Bowles bn 1803 Sevenoaks Kent, if I can get a look at the original register for Farningham in the Morman place near me, it might just with some luck say some thing about Eliza & Janes Ages, or at least confirm  the parents , the igi give Thomas/Sophia as there parents, they had a Thomas
but he married a Jane ?? in abt 1855, I was hoping Cityark would have the parish, alas no, If I strike lucky next week at the Temple I will let you know one way or another, thanks..mick
