Thomas HOPE, Male, 23

Trish - that's them - I've notes from that online tree (Thomas & Audrey), but not yet gone anywhere with it. It's been a long time since I did anything on this line of my family, so the memory's rusty - I did work out Ann's POB. I hadn't done anything with the 1841 Goodwins, so can't comment on whether they were in the 70s or teenagers - looking at the original I agree either is possible.

I knew Hope rang a bell, I've now checked my tree ;D . If I have this right (please check) Ann Goodwin (widow) married Edward Gee (widower) at St Peter, Prestbury 14 September 1825 and one of the witnesses was a Hope. Ann is buried with Edward at Wincle - the stone has also has two Goodwins from 1876 & 1901 as well as a granddaughter of Edward & Ann. Please PM me with an e-mail address if you want a copy of the photo I have. I do have Ann as born Wales c1787, if that matches.

That would make perfect sense, John Goodwin died in Feb 1825, and she had young children, so it would make sense she remarried quickly. I'll send you a pm now with my e-mail address, I'd love a copy of the photo of the grave.

I'll have a look through the rest of the posts later on and reply then.

P.S. the Goodwin children should be in their teens, Thomas (my ancester) was born c1822, and his brother John c1824.

Thanks again to everyone!

Excellent, it all looks good. So Thomas/John Goodwin are 15/14 in 1841 Census.

All the best,
Trish :)

Yeah, it looks brilliant, also explains why I could never find a death or burial for Ann Goodwin! I'm always suspicious about copying straight from someone else's tree, I like finding good confirmation first (although it is a nice starting point!).

Thanks for all the help :-D
