STAFFORDSHIRE PLACENAME
« on: Wednesday 27 August 14 14:37 BST (UK) »
This started as an extra to Cheshire Blacksmiths but more sensibly should  have been posted under Staffordshire.
Josiah Dale, another blacksmith , born Sproston, Cheshire was married to a Sarah Ann. I cannot make sense of her birthplace in 1861 census [ age 26]. Spools Heath is put forward but I cannot find any such place. Can anyone help?

Looking at her birthplace in other census returns, she gives Eccleshall and Stone.  I'm wondering if it is Cotes Heath which is in that area

It sort of looks like Goats Heath which could have been misheard by the enumerator  ???

It   could be this  place also   ,
Chell is a suburb of the city of Stoke-on-Trent in Staffordshire, England, that can be subdivided into Little Chell, Great Chell and Chell Heath. It lies on the northern edge of the city, approximately 1 mile from Tunstall,

Your comment jan57 is of interest. 7 of Mary Ann's children were born in Tunstall.
However it is difficult to see a double L. T
