Help with a will, please MOORE, 1849.
« on: Monday 14 April 14 08:19 BST (UK) »
Hello,
I am trying to locate a will for my 4x great grandfather, Capt John MOORE, RN., of Galway who died in 1849. Posting in the Irish boards looking for marriage details, a rootschat member, Hasta, replied " The Death Duty Index record I mentioned has a UK NA ref number of IR27/58 and is also on FindMyPast.com if you have access to that. I guess it would also be an idea to follow up on the Death Duties to see what had to be paid and who was involved with that. Sorry can't be more helpful. No experience with UK wills. The Death Duty Index also contains the information that his entry is Vol 1 Folio 166."

Is anyone able to please help me track down the will? I can not find anything on National Archives. Any help welcomed.

According to the index to death duties IR 27/58, he died intestate (without a will). Letters of administration were granted in 1849 to Margaret Moore to administer his estate.
