Thomas Sutton
« on: Wednesday 16 April 14 16:41 BST (UK) »
Hi I am looking for information on Thomas Sutton from Suttons Parish, County of Wexford.  He emigrated to Trepassey, Newfoundland in his own vessel in or about the seventies of the 18th century.  He married Elizabeth Stone the daughter of Captain Jonas Stone.  Thomas Sutton passed away in 1793.  Thomas possibly had a brother George who also emigrated to Newfoundland around the same time possible together.

Hello dbrewer

My GGGGG Grandfather George Sutton was from Trepassey Newfoundland. Left there and went to New Brunswick around 1796. I also have a student paper fro the University of Newfoundland that speaks about a George Sutton and Elizabeth Stone. I believe he got the information wrong.
I hope we get in touch to compare what info we have.

Mark Sutton

But is there a connection between the Suttons of Clonard and the Suttons of Sutton's Parish? Those two locations are far apart.

Very ancient family...

The family of Sutton were also of very ancient residence and respectability in Wexford and the adjoining counties; they possessed Old Court, as well as Ballykerogmore, and were of the same original stock as the Suttons of Tipper, in Kildare.

The Kildare Suttons are also relatives.

Hence suggested getting the Pedigree which is extremely inexpensive, plus it is a Source for all people on the tree and save years of looking and looking.
