James Hackwood and the Brindley's from Cannock or Cannock Wood
« on: Sunday 06 April 14 22:27 BST (UK) »
Hi-
I'm doing research on the Hackwood line. There seems to be three children, Jane, James and Mary Hackwood who are shown living with the James Brindley family of Cannock (Jane and James in the 1841 census, and Mary in the 1861 census). James Hackwood's marriage record lists James Brindley as Hackwood's father. Just wondering if anyone has nailed down the history there - are the Hackwood children orphans, relatives, or both?
Thanks for any info you might have,
Dan

Welcome to RootsChat! ;D

I would imagine that James is Jane's 2nd Husband, the first being Hackwood?
Thus making the Hackwood step-children to James?

Thanks! I didn't think of that (can you tell I'm new at this?). I'll see if that turns anything up.

On second thoughts . . . .!!

On the 1861 census, Mary Hackwood is a visitor, so sh's not related?!

None of the Hackwood children are with James, Jane and his mother Margaret in 1851?

The 1841 census doesn't mention relationships, so it's not easy to tell.

Hi
There is also a baptism for Jane
Jane Brindley Hackwood to Jane Hackwood 9.11 1824

Mother Jane Hackwood baptised Cannock 3.7.1803 to Josiah and Eleanor Hackwood
So it looks like James Brindley was Jane junior's  father and the couple  had yet to marry.

Notes, Jane HACKWOOD is a Spinster
The 1827 Marriage is there also;
Witnesses, John and Sarah Hackwood, Notes, Bride and Groom sign the register. Witnesses sign (X

Janes Siblings were;

Also on Familysearch we have another Child probably to them;
ANN, 19 Aug 1795 (to Josiah/Ellen)

Josiah HACKWOOD Married Eloner BRADBURY, 22 December 1791, Saint Michael, Lichfield,Stafford
(Source Familysearch.Org)
FreeREG has him as Jonah and and Eloner as Eleanor Bradbury, both signed

Just found more Children, Parents Josia/Ellenor or Ellen;
SARAH, 29 April 1792, buried 19 Aug 1795, Daug of Josia

So we have Sarah/Ann/William/Sarah/Jane/John I think!
