Chart Sutton

I have a George But(T)ler found on two censuses one has birth place Sutton Kent the other  Great Chart Kent am I safe assuming he was born in Chart next to Sutton Valence? If so where can i find his baptism please?

George BUTLER or BUTTLER born about 1782

1861 80 from Great Chart Kent
1851 68 from Sutton Kent
death Hollingbourn dist 1867 age 87

Don't think you can assume its Sutton. Great chart is south of Ashford and was a rather large settlement in the past. There were Butlers in Great Chart. These are names at weddings, not necessarily  the groom

The family I am after :
William BUTLER born Horsmonden, Kent about 1813 he married a Mary Ann born Wychling 1818 about 1838
William's parents were
George Butler b abt 1782 Sutton who married abt 1811 a Mary ? born abt 1774 in Goudhurst
And then of course who were George's parents
They are a bit of a problem

I am afraid I am not going to be of much help but, I thought I might give you some information that may assist you in some small way.

I have checked a transcription of the Baptisms in CHART SUTTON and there is no record for any George Butler.  However, I have set out below some Butler baptisms that might be of interest.

1788 Jan 12 William s/o George & Mary BUTLER private
1790 Jun 13 John s/o George & Mary BUTLER pauper
1791 Dec 18 Elizabeth d/o George & Mary BUTLER
1795 Jul 19 John s/o George & Mary BUTLER

Following these I found marriage as follows

1783 19 Aug George BUTLER Ba Bt M (Yeoman) Mary JOY Sp Chart L John Fuller John Pope

What happened between 1783 and 1788 and where is an obvious question?  Alas, it is one to which, I have no answer.

There was also a baptism in Boughton Monchelsea for Jesse Butler on 11 Feb 1798 also with the parents named as George and Mary.

As a matter of interest do you have the Marriage Certificate of William BUTLER to Mary Ann KEDWALL?  Hollingbourne District Dec 1838 5/383.

I also noted a marriage at MARDEN as follows

1811 May 14 George BUTLER to Mary SIMMONS w’s Wm Harris (P.C.) Tho Butler

The status of the Groom and Bride was not recorded on the transcription.

There is no record of a baptism for a Mary Simmons at Goudhurst in or around 1775.  However, there is one for a Mary Hoath!  Then a marriage and, another Goudhurst entry plus three records from HORSMONDEN as found on Family Search.as follows

Wow that is wonderful many thanks. I have 4 children for George (1812) and Ann nee HUGHES and 10 children for William(1813) and Mary Ann. One of William and Mary Ann's children, James Larkin Butler(1850) married Catherine McMullin in 1878 in Kingston upon Thames. You have fitted several pieces to my puzzle
