Looking for information for John Rae m. Margaret Dalgleish in Hawick, March 22 1807 need to know more about John Rae very little info, I do know they had 4 children and Margaret was born in Hobkirk in 1789, thank you for your time if you know of any links/info perhaps you could passit on to me. I had a wee look in the British Vital Records to see if I could find any more children but strangely enough only two of the four have come up. These are as follows:

I looked also for a John Rae, born 1807 +/- 4 years (in Roxburgh) and found the following:

Some of the siblings of the second John (born in 1789) are spelt REA.

If you'd like details of either of the above John's siblings, just let me know.

Thank you Ann, although it looks to me the obvious John Rae would be born to James Rae and Janet Hardie, John being born 1st March 1789, but that's the brick wall I'm up against, don't think there is way of finding out? I would like to thank you anyway for trying. Regards Jim

This might be an obvious question but have you tried going sideways?

Sometimes if you follow up on the siblings you stumble across details you didn't previously have.
