thanks for that, yes you have given me a lot of info i never knew.  i did know a fair bit but like everyone else cannot find a baptism for thomas.  my views are that thomas was taken in by john and martha hulse as his mother had either died or he was base born.

will try and chip away at it as there does not seem to be any records of thomas before 1841.
