:D MacDade descended from David  O'Doherty ;D so its Irish.

Strange how Irish names keep cropping up on my Casey,Murphy,Cameron, McIntosh ancestors
marriage certificates.

From what I understand Mac or Mc means son of, so McDade became Davidson.  ;D ;D

Looks as if it could be of Irish or Scottish origin.

;) So the wife of John Casey Elizabeth Davidson Casey could be a McDade relative of my
3x gt grandmother Elizabeth McDade Casey.

As for her husband John Casey ??? would it be to much to think he's a Casey relative :D
Barny & Elizabeth had 10 children when they left ireland, always wondered if Bernard had siblings
and some came with him :D

I know thier's a lot of Casey's up there in Scotland " Help "

Take care all.

;) Hi all, i thought we had Elizabeth Casey's marriage found but thiers a problem with the father's forname.

Elizabeth Casey living at 67 Bell st, Glasgow    Father John Casey
                       married

Robert Wilkie living at  2 Clyde st, Glasgow.   father Robert Wilkie

My Casey ancestors lived in Bell st, Elizabeth father had died 1856 and he was Bernard Casey
 { Barny }
The marriage certificate i was sent is a little hard to read but no mistaking Elizabeth's fathers name.
I'm sure these Casey's are my relatives just not sure how yet.
Elizabeth mothers maiden name is given as Davidson, i was told that this could be an anglicised version of McDade, which is Elizabeth's mothers maiden name when she married Bernard Casey.
Any one loving a mystery please feel free to help me :'( its driving me up the wall not knowing ???
All the best ;)

Hi all ;)

just heard from a distant Casey relative today, he remembered some years ago seeing a document
Stating Sarah { Maiden name Casey before marriage } went to New South Wales in 1853.

if Sarah married William Canley { Connoly } 25/09/1853 would any names have been taken on
departure or just on arrival at New South Wales.
All the best.

 ;) Hi all,

would it be possible to know if a Sarah & William Colley { Collie } left for New South Wales late september 1853, two marriage's took place in Glasgow within 24 hours of each other,
Sarah Casey to William Canley 25/09/1853,
                      &

Sarah Cassey to William Collie { Colley 26.09. 1853.

All i know from a distant relative is he had some years ago a document? stating Sarah had left for
NSW after she married, and left 1853, as you can see both these marriage's took place almost same time, perhaps my Sarah Casey is one of them unless other rmarriage took place for another
Sarah Casey in 1853.
All the best ;)

Hi Derek.

I cannot help you with finding a record of Sarah Casey and William Colley leaving for NSW.

But re - the 2 Sarah Casey  marriages one on 25/9/1853 other on 26/9/1853. I would say these are both for the same couple. Have you looked at the original entries on Scotlands People?
You say both marriages were in Glasgow. Are they in different Parishes of Glasgow? A marriage could be recorded in both the bride's parish and the groom's. The different date could be just when the clerk wrote up the Record Book. The names of the Grooms are fairly similar Canley/Collie.

Looby :)

Hi Derek,
Have you looked at the original records on Scotlands People? Is there no extra information? Not that there always is...but sometimes there can be a name or a place name which can help . Which Parishes were the two marriage records recorded?

Lobby  :)
