There is still a store bearing the name in Goolwa and the plaque -

I can't find an image online...you may be more successsful   I am happy to take a photo of the store today when I am next there.  I am sure there will be photos in the library of the streetscape in the early years.

Thanks so far for everyone's input and help and especially Dee for your offer to look at the Encounter Library.  I have enjoyed going through all the websites.

My Goolwa and Currency Creek is quite strong and its all adding to the story so again Many Many thanks for taking the time to respond.

Hi,

South Australian Government Gazette July 14th 1853.
There is a memorial relating to the District of Encounter Bay where 2/5 of the rateable inhabitants were desirous that a District Council be constituted.  One of the signatories was Thomas Goode.

Cheran, today I spent several hours at the Alexandrina Library in Goolwa.....so watch this space......I have photos and information that I'll post as soon as I get it typed and the images edited.

Have the Goode tree back a couple more generations.....but it will need checking out.

You might want to plan a trip to Alexandrina Library. I found 4 very fat folders of documents for Thomas Goode senior......2 for Thomas Goode jnr and 7 other folders for Goodes in the area. They are part of what is known as the Walter Pretty Collection.

In the folders you can find things like handwritten family trees from some time back, letters from the latter 1800s, lots of other letters from descendants, a copy of Thomas Goode Snr's will, land titles....the list was far too much for me to collate.

Somehow I missed getting a photo of Folder 4.......
