Mackenzie family
« on: Monday 12 September 11 20:56 BST (UK) »
I have a Colin Mackenzie born abt. 1840 in Assynt. I believe his father is Duncan Mackenzie born 1791 in Lairg who married Anne Mackenzie on 29 Dec 1818 in Assynt. His father I believe was Duncan Mackenzie born abt. 1768.
I believe his father was possibly Hugh Mackenzie who married Isabel Gilmore Sept 22 1755.
Can anyone verify the above please?

Hi my name is Patrick Mcqueenie it seems that this surname is associated with the Mackenzie Clan, it is also associated with Ireland, my Mother was Mary Mackenzie and she married my Father Patrick Mcqueenie strange coincidence or what, if any one out there knows how the Irish Mcqueenies were affiliated to the Scottish Clan Mackenzie i would be obliged for your input thank you Patrick Mcqueenie of the Clan Mackenzie

Hi Patrick,

Does the following website help?

http://www.houseofnames.com/macqueenie-family-crest

I've a lot of M(a)cQueen's in my family.  They hailed from Balmacqueen (translates as "Village of the MacQueens" in Gaelic) in the north of Skye.

How far have you got back to with your McQueenie line?

Kind regards,

A

Hi anabanana, yeah it helped very much thank you, it transpires the name Mcqueenie has several spellings the main one being Macqueenie which is the Scottish spelling My surname is the Irish Mcqueenie, i will find out when i receive my stuff from the website you sent me well done and thanks again, as for how far back i have gotten it seems the name goes back to 1100 or before i think it started out as Mcunn really quite interesting, Nomadic people, Isle of Skye, Wester Ross, Argyleshire, Ireland, America, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, also known as Macqueen or Mcqueen or Macsweyn, or Macsween, or Mcsweeney, or Mcweeney, just a small variation of the name, affiliated to the Mackenzie Clan, thanks again MA HEILAN LASS, KINDEST REGARDS PATRICK J MCQUEENIE.
