ww1 soldiers greenock please restore

 Please restore this photo. I think my grandfather is the man marked with an X. He is holding a large knife.  Also would it be possible to have a close up of his face as we have no other photos of him and I am hoping to check out family members for resemblance.

Hi, took the ciggy out and gave him some eyes just to get perspective, but couldn't tell from picture whether light or dark eyes !
