Brickwall
« on: Tuesday 27 August 13 15:12 BST (UK) »
Hi I am trying to find out more about  Mary WARD, who was born in Roscommon Ireland,I would like to know where in Roscommon she was born, who she married and when.
In the 1871 Census she was living in Norton Staffordshire England.

Thank-you

Cath

Hello,

Is Ward her maiden name?
The one I see in 1871 has several children born in Staffordshire and she is a widow.
Do you have any birth certificates with her previous name?
You would need more information to begin any research in Ireland so it is best to give all the information you have.

Regards
Heywood

Hi The only information I have is her maiden name could be either SWEENEY or SWANEY born in Roscommon Ireland and I think married Thomas WARD. I can't find a birth, marriage or death for her thats why I've come up against a brickwall. I have traced my son-in-law's family tree back to Mary and can't get any further.

Thank-you

Cath

Free BMD Marriage September 1856 Wolstanton
Thomas Ward and Mary Sweeney are among the spouses.
The certificate would give you her father's name.

It would be difficult to find any records in Ireland for the period you search. You will need to know the religious denomination and then a parish.
