RootsIreland becoming a subscription site

I won't be using it to try and help others anymore so. :'(
Think I've got everything I'm ever going to get for myself already thankfully.

I think that's expensive! I didn't use it much and found the coverage limited  but it is sad.

Thank you for letting us know Sinann.

I used to moan about the pay per view system and longed for Roots Ireland to be a subscription site -- but my goodness this is pricey.
Places of interest;
Lancashire, West Yorkshire, Southern Ireland, Scotland.

I noticed that today too . . .

BUT does anyone know if the one month subscription means that you can view 1000 ACTUAL transcriptions.

IF SO that would be a bargain.

BUT it's the end of any of us using the free index to try and help others.

I fear they may regret it as I'm SURE those of us whom were helping others put people in touch with the site and in turn they bought records from them.

Shame that won't happen anymore  :'(

I couldn't log in to the site when I saw this as I was at work but just tried now.
I had 85 search credits left, ( from the 100 they gave free at some point), it's telling me now
"Subscriptions are now available to purchase with your remaining credits"
Wonder what 85 credits would get me?

As far as I can make out from the terms and conditions, it is only purchased credits and not the search credits that can be used to pay for a subscription.  In regard to the search credits, they still seem to work on the site but if I'm reading the conditions correctly you lose any remaining search credits when you take out a subscription.  Suggests one would be better doing all the free searches one can before taking out a sub.
