Rachael Ball born in South Normanton?
« on: Tuesday 02 December 14 14:47 GMT (UK) »
In the 1841 & 1851 Census returns for Brimington there is a household with a Rachael/Rachel Ball living with her parents Joseph & Elizabeth Ball. Her birth date is recorded as being about 1813 and her birth place as Normanton (also her parents birthplace). I dfon't think this is Normanton by Derby as I have a transcript for that parish in which are recorded no 'Ball' baptisms.
I'd be interested to know is Rachael's baptism is recorded in South Normanton or Pinxton PR's and if she had any siblings born there. Thanks.

In 1851 she is Rachael Naylor with a husband Joseph.  Rachael died 1857

There is this marriage on FS but it's not on freebmd but there is no other Joseph Naylor with a wife Rach** in 1851

1811 Elisabeth Wragg.

Bang goes my theory.  I had hoped her surname was Bown which is (with some imagination) similar to Boam as I had found a baptism for a Rachel Bown parents Samuel and Elizabeth and had hoped that the Ball marriage was a second marriage for Elizabeth

Thanks for all your input.
It is possible that Joseph & Elizabeth are the couple married in 1811 (Elizabeth Wragg) but also possibly Jospeh Ball & Elizabeth Low married 1793 in Pinxton or Joseph Ball & Elizabeth Leverton married 1808 in Tibshelf.
In Chesterfield (St Mary's) their are a number of children baptised with parents Joseph & Elizabeth Ball, Charlotte (1795), George (1797), Rachel (1801), Elizabeth (1804), William (1806), Samuel (1809), Charles 1814, Thomas (1816) and Isaac (1819). Isaac is known to be a sibling of the Rachael found in the 1841 & 1851 census returns as he is also in the household in 1841 (return incorrect transcribes age 3 to Isaac, should be 20). The others may or may not be siblings, more than one Joseph & Elizabeth Ball?

I see that a number of trees on Ancestry are agreed that the Rachel who m Joseph Naylor is the daughter of Joseph Ball and Elizabeth Wragg but there is a dissenting voice. James R Irvine has Rachel Ball from these parents married to William Siddle, cb
Broadley (Lancs all dates and Halifax bef 1654)
