Charles Burbridge appears on the 1835 Pettigrew & Oulton as a Hatter at Great Elbow Lane, Dublin.

You will see it on this old map !

Have been doing a few more searches without anything interesting to report. I am still reluctant to completely rule out the 2nd? (Catholic) marriage for a John Burbridge but neither do I think we can say it is the same John that married Margaret (Hussey) Flaherty.

One thing that is bothering me a bit is the 1806 baptism for a Charles Burbridge (parents Charles & Deborah)- is he not a bit old to be marrying in 1849?

I can find no trace, so far, of Georgiana Burbridge baptised in 1852- if she died before 1864 registration of deaths that would explain it but just conjecture at this point.

I do think the Thomas (age 21) in 1861 census is the right Thomas as the 1871 census with wife, etc. shows him as a seaman.

Probably a coincidence but I found another Burbridge hatter-John Burbridge born c1751 Northern? Ireland died 1800 Connecticut USA.

Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Was he a sailor? there is a Thomas Burbridge in 1861 seaman age 21 born Dublin.

That's wonderful! Thomas was a sailor, can you tell me how you found that out? I am over the moon.

All I know is that Thomas Bubridge married Mary Ann Best on the 19th March 1855 in North Shields , he was a seaman at that time. His marriage certificate states that his father was John Burbridge who is a hatter. It doesn't state he is deceased so I assume his alive.

Thomas is on no previous census records in England before his marriage to Mary.

On second thoughts that may not be my Thomas. He was born approx. 1847 in Ireland according o the census' of 1871 onwards.
