James Ferguson
« on: Wednesday 22 October 14 18:58 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find information on where my grandfather was born/died and any other information possible. I have his marriage certificate with the following details-

3 August 1914 St Annes Church Belfast,
James Ferguson age 29 bachelor signalman
residence 16 L.Victoria street, Belfast   father William George Ferguson farmer
married
Marcella Montgomery age 23 spinster
residence 38 Rosapenna Street, Belfast   father James Montgomery soldier
witnesses Christy and Esther Ferguson

they went on to have 2 children
my grandfather James Ferguson born 22 June 1915 Omagh ( can't find his birth certificate at the minute but i remember that they were registered as living at a railway cottage and his Dad was working on the railway)
and Mary Amelia Ferguson no idea of when or where she was born but she died 9 October 1945 Belfast

i think i have found James Ferguson seniors father and family, William George Ferguson
1901 & 1911 in Kilmore , Armagh

Father William George Ferguson c1858 Armagh farmer
Mother Amelia born c1858 Armagh
Christopher born c1886 Newcastle Upon Tyne and Armagh
Alice born  c1891 Armagh (only on 1901 looks like she died before 1911)
Esther born c1894 Newcastle Upon Tyne and Armagh
William George born 1901 Armagh

If this is right it looks like Christopher and Esther were witnesses at brother wedding

Anyway i can find no trace of James Ferguson senior - my family were told he died young maybe before 1940s.
 ??? ??? ??? ??? ???
Any help would be much appreciated

Hi,
A couple of finds which may be of interest.
21 Apr 1862 William George Ferguson was baptised in Armagh Second Presbyterian Church. He was born on 20 May 1861. The parents were James Ferguson and Esther Blevins who lived in the townland of Ballymorin. ( I think that this should read BALLYMORAN which is in the parish of Lisnadill in Armagh District.)

7 May 1883 William George Ferguson married Amelia Hampton in Armagh Civil Registrar's Office.

Hello BallyaltikilliganG  & kingskerswell sorry have been away for the weekend and only just seen your posts. Many thanks for all your work. Will get to work to check out all you fantastic information.

The note about Alice might not being died, i guessed she had died as on one of the census it said her mother had 5 children and only 4 living, and i could find all the other children except my grandfather and Alice.
And about Mary Amelia, she was my grandfathers sister and my nans best friend, she was the one that got them together. She is also in the family cemetery plot but with only her name and date of death.
many thanks again
