There is no mention of the Claridge couple in the 1891 entry as transcribed by lizdb at reply #1.  Where have you found them?

 A tree  on Ancestry    has A  Sophia  Brewerton  marrying Stephen Steptoe , and a sister Esther Eleanor   marrying an  Arthur  Thomas Dingle  ,   and a  brother  Thomas marrying a Sarah Lay 

 Looking  at  census   I see Thomas and Sarah     having  a son William  , born  1862,

Stephen Steptoe  and Sophia     with  Stephen  b  1876  and an  Esther   Eleanor  b  1879, 

Esther   and( Arthur)Thomas  with   Rachel J  born 1870

 On 1891  census  as   mentioned  before  ,  William, Stephen and  Esther   are  with Rachel  whose  status   I think,  should read head  ,  but has  been   put  in  with the Claridges      who  live  next  door .   The  image  indicates   a   double  line //  to   separate   the households

Just a couple of comments from me which I hope may help.

Firstly the birth was registered Q1 1890 v3a p846 Oxford so it is possible the actual birth was December 1889

Secondly I have OFHS complete CD collection of Oxford PR's and sadly I cannot see a baptism for Esther in any of them!! So whilst I may well have missed it, thats a lot of Baptism PR's I looked at -  - it is also possible she was baptised as an adult or certainly after ones normal expectation for that to have happened.

I there for think that Lizdb's advice to get the birth certificate is really good.

I have ordered the birth certificate

However, I looked at the 1891 census and I found this in Oxford

George Claridge 46 Head
Elizabeth Do      54 Wife
William Do         23 Son
Fanny Do          18 Daughter
Rachel Rogers   21 Daughter (Married and living next door to George and Elizabeth. Listed as Daughter of George and Elizabeth)
Esther Fanny Rogers 1 Daughter of Rachel

I think it is more than likely an enuerators error,
George and Elizabeth Claridge are at RG11 1503  50  36 in 1881, no sign of any daughter Rachel - just the son William Claridge and daughter Fanny Claridge who are with them in 1891.
(And 1871 they just have William age 3, before Fanny wasb born - no Rachel aged 1)
