Samuel Churton Payne and family
« on: Friday 21 June 13 20:05 BST (UK) »
Samuel Churton Payne (born 1842 Manchester) married Elizabeth (Hincher) Lovell ( born 1846 Mexborough Yorks), in 1869 in the Kings Norton Registration District.
I can find Elizabeth in every census after the marriage except 1901 but I can't find her death, nor can I find her birth. In 1911 she says she has been married 42 years and has had 10 children of which five have died.
From the 1911 census  she has two daughters with her Frances A. b Birmingham 1871 and Edith b Harborne 1879.
I have found four more children:
John Lovell b 1870 Edgbaston disappears after 1891 census
Margaret E b Harborne Staffs last seen 1901 Hornsey Middlesex servant
Two more children are born after the last sighting of Samuel in 1871 census
Kelly?B 1882 Harborne last seen 1891
Frederick G 1883 Harborne last seen 1891
The problem I have is that I can find no death or marriage( and births are hard to find)  for any of this family,I am guessing that five of these children survived until 1911 and one died.
Any help welcomed.

Hi Liz,
I think Elizabeth and her family are here in 1861   212   / 28  / 7 transcribed as Lavell.

1851  2049  /  351  / 56  They are transcribed as Powell

There are births for an Elizabeth Lover - 1845 Doncaster and Elizabeth Levitt 1846 - perhaps a mistranscription.

Hi Liz:

There is a John Lowell Payne listed for a marriage in the Kings Norton registration district in 1895. I wonder if the listing for Lowell was a typo and it should have been Lovell?

John Lowell Payne - Kings Norton - Worcestershire - 1895 - Mar quarter - 6C - 512

Free BMD has births in Kings Norton district:
John Lovell 1870
Frances Ann 1871
Margaret Elizabeth 1872
Edith 1878
Lillie Beatrice 1881
Frederick George  1883

There are several other Payne births so these could be the children who died

Family Search has some christenings of above children plus

Elsie Florence 1885
