 Epaphrodetus Clendeining Born circa 1839 in Ireland ..Parents Samuel Alexander Clindening and sarah Young Found him on the following 1851 Census then he disappears

Fabulous name! I just did a search on Freebmd for marriages but could not see your Epaphroditus, however it is highly likely that misspellings occurred, so a bit of creative searching might yield results.

Doubly difficult with both names being tricky.  :)

Have you found other members of the family? Do they stay in Lancashire?

I could not see him marrying or dying, or on the 1861 census ..... :-\
Nor can I see him in 1841. Perhaps someone else will have more success.

Yes, interesting name - also have you ever thought it could be a variation of Glendinning - well known Scottish name, though associated with "Traveller" families - sorry - might be a total red herring - but variation of Surname could be possibility.

Yesssss Glendinning was the surname in Scotland then when families went to Co Down Ireland from Scotland, name was changed to Clendinning/clindinning/etc and my line Clendinnen in Australia
Theres a Book Called *house of glendonwyn* written by my grandfathers cousin here documenting the glendinnings

Oops, I think thats a different Epaphroditus to the one you're searching for, sorry  :-[
