Tidybooks: Thanks. I'd discovered that William McCondochie left Janet in June 1908, and that she then gave birth to a child Janet Dickson Scott, whose father was Henry Scott, in 1910. It might now be worth seeing if Janet and Henry married after 1914.

The only child of Janet and William's short marriage was Mary (b.1906) as you suggested.

Cecilia ended up in Airdrie and died less than 50 years ago. As it is feasible she has living children i shan't give her husband's name here.

....and as expected Henry and Janet were married on 12th October 1916, when Henry was a Private in the Canadian Contingent!

Even more curiously, Janet was listed as a widow  ???
