Doesn't quite tie in with a birthday on 8th May  :-\

Perhaps she is one of the other options you found in the right area and Phyllis wasn't her actual birth name?
Having said that they don't seem to be in the right quarter either.

How about St Albans Jun 1930 Joanna P - P for Phyllis perhaps.
Hinchliffe - Huddersfield Wiltshire
Burroughs - Arlingham Glos
Pick - Frocester Glos

Have the birth cert for joanne , brought that one a while ago it isint her and just gave me another mystery to solve. I guess that is what her mum must have told her that she was born on this Dallow lane.
That is a common misconception. Most travellers did stay within a certain area. Which covered a few counties, especially in the days when it was horses and carts. Not everyone had those beautiful wooden wagons, most had bender tents. Which meant they mostly walked from site to site. It was only when they started to get caravans, trucks and vans that they started to travel further. Mostly because they would have to get work wherever they could. They might also travel that bit further for fairs or to visit family.

She married Kisby Parker in 1948 and died in 2004. Kisby was born in 1929 and died in 2001.

If she's the Phyllis Parker who died in Luton in June 2004 then her birth date was given as 8th May 1927.

I should think that was a guess. Her daughter Amy says they celebrated that date as her birthday but they are not sure of her exact birthdate. which is odd because they do know the dates of birth of all the other kids.

So Phyllis was born in between Nelson and Annie?

If Nelson was born in 1927 and Annie in 1931 then 1929 looks a good bet.

Am a bit confused about the mileage.

Hitchin, Biggleswade and Luton are close(ish) together.  Maldon is in Essex about 67 miles from Luton, Wellingborough is in Northants about 37 miles from Luton, and Coventry is in Warwickshire, which is about 64 miles from Luton.

I don't quite get why you're OK with Maldon, but not Coventry?
