Rose Brittain

I am looking for info on Rose Brittain b. abt 1858 in Bristol. Her marriage states her father is Dan Brittain but I cannot find anything about her before her marriage. I would be very grateful if anyone could help me as I have spent many hours researching her & found nothing!

She married George York, 27 Sept. 1876 (I have this cert.) Witnesses were his siblings. On all the census records they lived in St Philip and St Jacob, Bristol. She died in 1929. Her fathers occupation was brushmaker.

???

There is a Daniel Brittain bc 1828 living in St Michael, Bristol in 1871. He is a Sweep.

With him is wife Ann and several children. No Rose listed, but there is a gap in the children's ages where she would fit in!

Hi

Looks like there are two Daniel Brittain's in Bristol at the same time and ages are similar

Bristol : St Philip and St Jacob : 1871 census

Daniel BRITTON hd mar 41   hawker   bn St George Gloucs.
Harriet     "       wf    "   50                 " Webbs Heath
Mary               dau       19                 "   ? ? Common Gloucs.
Sarah               "         16                 " St Georges Gloucs
Emma               "         13                    St Philips Bristol

Class RG 9,  Piece 1734, Folio 33,  Page 17.

Family in 1861 are minus Daniel , surname BRITTAIN and Emma born 1858 is ANN EMMA, is it possible Ann Emma  / Emma could be Rose ?

I wonder if there is a 'traveller' link ~ very common occupations amongst a travelling family were chimney sweeps, brushmakers and hawkers.

Not sure if this means anything  but in 1881 George and Rose are living at no 16 John Street, at no 6 John Street it looks like Harriet Brittain aged 65 is living there as a servant.

Thank you all for your help. I have tried to piece it all together & think she maybe Sarah daughter of Daniel & Harriet. I do not see how I can prove this but she certainly disappeared from all census after 1871 & I could not find a marriage for her. So I think that I have to admit defeat & give up looking.  I found Emma's marriage to someone else so not her. Thank again. Iris
