I looked at this one before and found that according to the familysearch site that William Byers son of Thomas Byers & Mary Melson died 27th March 1780.

There is a birth on Family Search of a William Byers 18 Sept 1779 in Lochmaben, Dumfriesshire. Parents Richard Byers and Jannet Carruthers. Baptised 20 Sept.
