The place to search for Kerry parish records is www.irishgenealogy.ie - see some baptisms for the couple in Duagh RC parish, but no sign of a possible marriage that I could see.

Maybe they married in a parish where the records dont go back far enough, or somewhere outside Co. Kerry ?

I seem to remember that [O']Dowd is sometimes used as an equivalent to Doody - so might be worth checking for this also..

The names sound very familiar .. did this query come up before ?
Remember to check the Resource boards :  Ireland, Dublin, Antrim & Cork (and stickies at the top of other county sub-forums)

Gday Shane and agha:)
Well I have been posting re my Doody line on here before but have just recently found out re this marriage between Maurice Doody and Joanna Barry
Yes I use that site shane re Irish research  a great site too, tho couldn't locate the marriage in Kerry, but because it was an early one too, may not have been recorded
Family say they are from clare , tho my great grandfather john Thomas doody born 1862 according to a marriage notice here was from Kerry, but im thinking further back family may have come from clare
And yes I wondered re O'Dowd too and was name Anglicised to Doody Was that sometimes the rule of thumb re irish surnames some may have been anglicised from original names?
On my grandmothers wedding cert here it was Dowdy..So research can become interesting yet frustrating too lol with name changes
thanks for replying
regards
cathy:)
