Unmarried Mother's details - Napier

My Mother in Law had a baby at Bethany Home in Napier in 1931 and the baby was adopted out.
The child has recently contacted the family and everything has worked out well with this new sister who is now aged 83!!
On a recent Australian WDYTYA they were able to get the details of the unmarried mother's stay at the  Salvation Army home which gave some interesting extra details about the length of stay and also the name of the father.

Has anyone any idea if the records of the Salvation Army,  Bethany Homes are still available.?

I decided to ring the Salvation Army and they advised me that they have the archives from the Bethany Nursing Homes in Upper Hutt so I have emailed the Archives with all the details to see if they can give me any info.

I'll be waiting fingers crossed to see if we can get any further details - Perhaps the name of the father - wouldnt that be wonderful.!!

I got a very quick reply but sadly the records that I want were burnt in a fire??? and they dont have records before 1948 in Napier and then they are patchy up until 1966.

At least it was worth a try.
