ive been having a look through the link you all posted and they are fabulous. lots of info to be had and the photos are great too.

my grandmother apparently left donegal to work in the convent on Pump st in Derry. i found her age 18 in the 1911 census working as a domestic but they spelt her name as Mccallion i think.
she  next moved on to Scotland , lived and worked  in port glasgow/greenock area , met and married my grandfather Francis Shields from Coalisland co Tyrone.. in 1923/4. my mother Margaret was their 2nd child and was born in Houston in 1929 august 19th.

i wonder if anyone has any info on these... thank you so much

I think this is the information you want :
Daniel McColgan was a son of Dominic McColgan & Susan Doherty (1819 - 1904 ) Tullynavin
Their family : Anne, Ellen ( 1848- 1918 ), Neil ( 1850 - 1913 ),Daniel ( 1851 - 1934 ),
James ( 1851 - ), Catherine (1863 -) & Michael ( 1865- 1947). James & Daniel were twins, there was no Dominic. Michael was my grandfather. Dominic died before 1901.
Daniel married Margaret McDermott ( 1861 - 1947 ). Margaret was from Clar.
Their family: James ( 1887-), Susan ( 1891- 1972), Mary ( 1893-1987), Cecily ( 1896-),
Daniel (1897- ), Michael ( 1901 - 1976), Margaret ( 1902- 1995) & Bernard ( 1906- )
1901 Census House 23, Carrickmaquigley, Redcastle
1911 Census House 17, Carrickmaquigley
I hope this helps

Hi Haircut, I have a Dominic McColgan  who I found in Tithe Applotment Books for the years 1828 and 1830.  There is a connection with a Peter McColgan who I found with Dominic .

Dominic  born 1801 in Mevagh . records showed Mevel, Donegal
Peter born 1798 Loughall, Armagh

I had first found them together in 1841 Scottish Census in Kirkintilloch

I saw your posts and hoping you can help.  Thanks, Pat (Culligan) Connecticut US

Do you know in which townland your Dominic McColgan was recorded in Tithe Applotment. Our Dominic is recorded as Tullynavin, Redcastle, Moville Upper, in Griffith's.
Where did you find record of a Dominic & Peter? Not a combination I've heard of.

Dominick McColgan  Benduff, Gortlary and Kinnaglug, Donagh Parish, Donegal
1827 Tithe Applotment Books

Peter on the same parcel of land

Then in 1830 They're showing a Danl, and Peter, same plot

As I first mentioned I found Dominick and Peter (different born 1830) in 1841 Scottish Census

This was my first post, and after reading copyright records, I'm totally confused. The US laws are
different, this information is considered public records.

I saw your posting, this Dominick born 1803+/1  in Donegal, Birth Parish Mevel, which I couldn't find anywhere. I have no other information on Dominick, hoping for connections here,

Interesting. Benduff etc. would be neighbouring parish to where my Dominic lived. I will have to see if I can find 1841 Scottish Census. I believe his father was Neil. Where did you find record for Dominic born Mevil? Could that be mis-spelling of Moville ( parish where my Dominic lived) although would have been born before 1830. 1st child born abt 1846.

 Here's what I Have

Dominick McColgan
b 1803    Mevel (LDS records)  Served 5th Foot Regiment. (Archives)
  Found a marriage
Domnick /Callaghan/McColgan  to Hamilton Rankine 5NOV 1826 think Hamilton is possibly Hannah
6 kid

Found this Peter in Army records Archives
Peter Colligan or Culligan
B Loughgall, Armagh
Served 3rd Foot Regiment 1807-1816 discharged age 24.    He would have bee born 1783

Do you have any military records for Dominick and I really don't know if the marriage is the right Dominick but the dates seem right. Going to go to LDS center for details, never been there I'll be interesting, next week.  My name is Pat
