Hello Vertigo,
Back from hol's and caught up with backlog at last.
McLew, with variations, was quite strong in Stirlingshire but not so now. First names are repeated and repeated so your list is very familiar.
My connections are mainly in Balfron Parish, Killin Parish and Kilmaronock Parish in the 1800/1900's.
In the 1700's they are in Drymen Parish.
@ 1714 there is an inter-marriage between a David McLew in Drymen P. and a Margaret McLew in Balfron P. with a marriage contract which I have yet to locate.
David (in Drymen P.) appears to be a brother of John who is my forebear. Margaret (in Balfron P.) is the daughter of Walter whose family, according to a stone in Balfron Parish Church, have been there from 1600.
John, David, Robert and Moses appear in most generations.
My John McLew m. Janet Leny and their 5th.son Robert m. 1.Agnes McLew 2.Mary Monteth.
A George, John and Janet are born to Agnes followed by a David, Robert (1785), William, Daniel, Margaret and Moses born to Mary.
Robert b. 1785 m.1827 Janet Donaldson and my line continued with son David.
The Stirlingshire Sasine Minute Books and Registers and other legal records have lots of McLew (with variations) entries as did several of the Parish and Presbytery Minute Books.
In 1989 I was in contact with a Mrs.B---e in New Zealand but I have not had word since shortly thereafter and in recent years have not spent time on this line.
We might connect at some point ?!?
