I have seen McCanea used as a surname .

Was thinking perhaps it could be spelt McKanea or McKane ?

It also could be McCean or McKean or just plain "Crean"

My Great grandfather John Joseph Quaid was born in Crean , Limerick in 1869

Do you have their marriage certificate or information ?? Do you know the parents names for Timothy and Ann ??

Sorry I cant be of more help at this time:(

Hi.  I have a copy of Tim(othy) Sullivan's marriage cert at last.  It names his father as Pat(rick) Sullivan, Stone Cutter.  Timothy was full age when he married in 1878, and the 1901 census shows him as aged 43, so I'd say timothy was born c1857 / 1858.

I believe I've narrowed his baptism down to 2 possibilities:

1. 1857 in the parish of Knockainy[/color] & Patrickswell
2. 1857 in the parish of Ballyagran

Could Knockainy in any way be confused with Mccanea? McKainy????

Unfortunately, as the baptism records very rarely record the fathers occupation, I've no way of knowing which entry could be the correct one.

Timothy Sullivan and Ann Tiernan showing up on one public family tree on ancestry. You seem to have more information than them but it might be worth getting in touch
