Lillian Gardner Look up

Hi All

I have been trying to find a lady by the name of Lillian Gardner all I know is that she married a Edward Arthur Ellner in 1915 in Hendon, Middlesex.

They had a son called Edward Richard Ellner in 1917 in Hendon.

But I can not find a Birth or Death for her.

I have tried changing the spelling of her surname to Gardener as this is how it is spelt on her sons birth record.

Any help or advise on where I can look would be great fully be received.

Her husbands probate refers to her a 'Lily'

I'm wondering whether this is her birth reg: Lillian Alice Gardner in Jun quarter of 1890 in Elton as this is the only Lillian Gardner that comes up for April time!

It looks likely they had at least one more child (a daughter) in Hendon 1925, mmn Gardner.  Details on FreeBMD but not posted in case she is still living.  She and her husband were with Edward and Lily in the 1949 electoral roll.

There are also two later female Ellner/Gardner births in Hendon 1944 and 1948 but the dates look unlikely for this couple.

Dates of birth on death certificates are not reliable.  Proof of when she was born would not have to be be provided.

You really need the marriage certificate to obtain details of her father.

Agreed.  And even if the date is right there are several Lilians and Lilys registered as Gardner/Gardener in Jun qtr 1890.  Lilian with one "l" in the middle was more commonly used than Lillian.
