Hi Sami - just happened to be online when your message came through. Although there is no great distance in modern terms between St. Giles and Bideford/Appledore, it might just as well have been on the other side of the moon in those days!

There are some fabulous web pages on the Genuki site relating to Appledore and the family name Cock, so I'll have a search and see what comes up !  ( no pun intended).

Hi
I know your post is a few years old but thought I would respond.
I am researching my BLACKMORE family from Northam/Appledore.
I have William Berry BLACKMORE b 1808? married Ann CHANNON b 1809 & they had children - Lewis(Louis) b 1836,William b 1837, James b 1841, Philip Henry b 1842 d 1843. I have had difficulty finding these children's births in Devon but they appear on later Censuses!
The family moved to South Wales around 1845-8.
Is this of any use?
