Higgs or Hopkins
« on: Thursday 03 October 13 08:31 BST (UK) »
Hi
Please can anyone help with my research of the Higgs and Hopkins families from Bucks. They mainly came from Whaddon and surrounding areas.
Any information would be useful.
Thanks

Hi,

Have you looked for either family on 1881 census, which is free to view?

My great grandmother was Marianne Higgs born 1892 in Shenley End, Bucks her father was John Higgs of Loughton, Bucks who married Emma Jane Hopkins of Whaddon, Bucks. That's as far as I've got so far?
Also really appreciate help with this My G. grandmother Marianne Higgs b. 1892 had 2 girls, but family have informed me there was a 3rd girl born Jessie Higgs, I would really like to know more about her but only know she was born before 1926 in Whaddon and raised by Marianne's mother and father as theirs. Some family recall her in later life with a man known as Mr Hawkins or Todd but never sure if they married. Any info. Or advice appreciated greatly.

Going further back with your Higgs & Hopkins, should not be a problem.

Was Marianne single or married when she had her girls?
Chapman from Haddenham to North Marston, Buckinghamshire; Bradwin in Haddenham, Buckinghamshire; Cox in  Haddenham, Buckinghamshire and may be more Haddenham families as I make my journey back in time :)

She was married when she had 2 youngest girls but definitely not to the father of oldest girl ~ Jessie. The girls were born in 1926 and 1930ish so I know Jessie was born before 1926.
