Male name Gus, what is that short for?
« on: Friday 22 August 14 04:01 BST (UK) »
Hello,
I am looking for a male who's shortened first name was Gus.  Immediately thought of Augustus but no luck there.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks

Not forgetting  variations of the previous answers; August,   Augustine   Gustavo   etc, It could of course be his name, not a shortened one or nickname.
I knew someone whose nickname was Gus, nothing to do with his first name at all.

What makes you think it has been shortened?

It could be that is his full name.
One very common mistake is to think that a name that may be used as a diminutive at other times is always used as a diminutive.

Thanks youngtug ... your right, it could be his nickname and nothing to do with his registered christian name/s, i.e. like myself, I'm known as Bonnie but that's not my reg'd first nor middle names

Thanks Guy - have tried using just 'Gus' but to no avail.

What part of the world was Gus from? What part of the world were his parents and grandparents from if known?
